Z. Krasko et al., A STUDY OF THE SODIUM-SCANDIUM-LITHIUM IODIDE HID LAMP FILL AND APPLICATION TO 4000-K DESIGN, Journal of the Illuminating Engineering Society, 23(2), 1994, pp. 131-135
A detailed study of the effect of chemical fill composition on metal h
alide lamp parameters was conducted over a wide range of molar ratios
of NaI, ScI3, and LiI components. Optimization of the metal halide add
itives and mercury fills resulted in the development of a new family o
f low-wattage metal halide lamps with high efficacy, a 4000 K color te
mperature, and a general color rendering index of 80. These lamps have
a compact size convenient for efficient fixture design, long life wit
h good maintenance characteristics, and a pleasing color appearance, s
uitable for most outdoor and indoor applications.
