A circuit for the generation of periodic pulses is presented, composed
of a driven unlocked surface acoustic wave oscillator incorporating a
n overdriven loop amplifier, followed by a saturated output amplifier.
The circuit is shown to behave chaotically. A plot showing the period
bifurcation as a function of injected power demonstrates that the bif
urcation period-doubling process collapses when the oscillator enters
the locked state.
