Abstract
The leading terms of a power series expansion in mu = M(pi)/M(N) for t he threshold amplitude of double-pion photoproduction on a nucleon are obtained by the use of an effective chiral Lagrangian. Contributions due to the DELTA(1232) resonance are included.
