We report the Poincare sections for identification of periodic bifurca
tions and chaos in an ion-beam plasma system using a simple differenti
al circuit adapted to the system. Poincare sections reveal the structu
ral characteristics of the phase space trajectories of the bifurcation
s and chaos showing finite numbers of dots for periodic orbits and str
ange attractors for chaotic orbits consisting of an infinite number of
layers.
