MYCETOMA OF THE UPPER ARM FOLLOWING INFEC TION BY ACTINOBACILLUS-ACTINOMYCETEMCOMITANS

Mycetomas are subacute or chronic infections usually localized on unpr otected skin areas and caused by fungi or Actinomyces. We report the c ase of a patient who suffered a splinter injury on his wrist after a m otor accident. Six months later a cutaneous abscess with Actinobacillu s acinomycetemcomitans developed on his wrist. Complete healing was ob tained within 1 month after administration of ceftriaxon and doxycycli ne. The therapeutic management will be discussed.
