Abstract
An experiment in which the application of a magnetic field 11 along th e light propagation direction causes a rotation is-proportional-to H o f the output intensity pattern is proposed. A case is developed to sat isfy Faraday's claim ''of the magnetization of the ray,'' i.e., the tr ansversely localized intensity burst, and not just the rotation of the polarization direction.
