Abstract
When -2 less-than-or-equal-to c less-than-or-equal-to 1/4, the Julia s et J(c) of z bar arrow pointing right z2 + c is connected. We construc t a family of ellipses E(c) which contain J(c) when -2 less-than-or-eq ual-to c less-than-or-equal-to 0, and which are contained within J(c) when 0 less-than-or-equal-to c less-than-or-equal-to 1/4. The ellipse E0 coincides with J0 (the unit circle).
