E. Batista et A. Meirelles, SIMULATION AND THERMAL INTEGRATION SRV IN EXTRACTIVE DISTILLATION COLUMN, Journal of Chemical Engineering of Japan, 30(1), 1997, pp. 45-51
The present work aims at studying the application of the thermal integ
ration Secondary Reflux and Vaporization (SRV) in extractive distillat
ion. This technique is based on heat exchange between the rectifying a
nd stripping sections, using the natural temperature difference betwee
n these two sections of the extractive distillation column for an etha
nol/water/ethylene glycol mixture. The calculated results are compared
with those relative to extractive distillation for an acetone/methano
l/water mixture. A substantial reduction in the energy consumption is
observed when comparing integrated columns with conventional ones.
