PREVENTION OF PLACENTAL RETENTION BY ERGO METRINE PLUS SEROTONIN IN COW

One hundred and twenty Prim-Holstein cows were randomly assigned to tw o groups of sixty animals each. In the treated group the animals recei ved and individual dosis of ergometrine plus serotonine (Sergotonine(T M)) either within one hour, between 1 to 6 hours or between 6 to 12 ho urs after calving, by intra-muscular route. Control animals were injec ted with saline in the same conditions. The placental retention rate w as significantly lowered in the treated group (10.0 p. 100) as compare d to the control one (38.3 p. 100) (p < 0.05).
