The fatty acid composition of the seed oil of Dichapetalum toxicarium
was examined by GC-mass spectrometry. The presence of omega-fluoro-pal
mitoleic, -stearic, -linoleic, -arachidic and -eicosenoic acids was es
tablished, in addition to that of the omega-fluoro derivatives of olei
c and palmitic acids previously isolated from this source. Strong evid
ence was also obtained for the presence of 18-fluoro-9,10-epoxystearic
acid. Copyright (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
