R. Moral et al., DISTRIBUTION AND ACCUMULATION OF HEAVY-METALS (CD, NI AND CR) IN TOMATO PLANT, Fresenius environmental bulletin, 3(7), 1994, pp. 395-399
Three experiments were carried out in soiless culture to determine the
absorption and accumulation of Cd, Ni and Cr in different parts of to
mato plant (Lycopersicon) esculentum Mill) and fruits. Those experimen
ts showed the different behaviour of the metals. Cr was poorly transpo
rted to aerial parts and was not detected in fruits. However Cd and Ni
were more easily transported to stems+branches, leaves and fruits. Th
e concentration of Ni was important in the fruits and it had no depend
ency on the Ni concentration of the nutrient solution but Cd concentra
tion in edible part was dependent on Cd treatment applied.
