Abstract
A simple approximation is developed for solving the ''whispering galle ry modes'' of a microdisk laser structure using conformal transformati on and the WKB approximation. Using this method the spontaneous emissi on coupling factor of microdisk lasers is estimated. The result predic ts a beta value of the order of 10(-1).
