Abstract
The aggressiveness and virulence of 3 isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f .sp. elaeidis from different regions in West Africa were compared usin g 14 oil palm clones. Although the resistance ranking of some clones v aried with different isolates, overall there was no significant isolat e/clone interaction. With isolates from Nigeria and the Ivory Coast th ere was a good correlation between the frequency of infection and the severity of symptoms in infected plants; no correlation occurred with a Zairean isolate. The significance of these results to selection of d isease resistant material is discussed.
