Sarcoidosis is a rare cause of uveitis in children. A case of ocular s
arcoidosis presenting as inflammation of the pars plana is presented.
Sarcoidosis is a systemic disorder of unknown cause characterized by t
he development of noncaseous granulomas. Sarcoidosis is relatively rar
e in children but is more common in blacks. Children are more prone th
an adults to ocular involvement. Anterior uveitis is the most common o
cular manifestation. A number of tests are helpful, including determin
ation of serum angiotensin converting enzyme and levels, whose elevati
on is, however, neither specific nor consistent. The diagnosis always
rests on a set of converging findings. Corticosteroid therapy is the m
ainstay of management. Full recovery is sometimes difficult to achieve
