Abstract
Sarcoidosis is a rare cause of uveitis in children. A case of ocular s arcoidosis presenting as inflammation of the pars plana is presented. Sarcoidosis is a systemic disorder of unknown cause characterized by t he development of noncaseous granulomas. Sarcoidosis is relatively rar e in children but is more common in blacks. Children are more prone th an adults to ocular involvement. Anterior uveitis is the most common o cular manifestation. A number of tests are helpful, including determin ation of serum angiotensin converting enzyme and levels, whose elevati on is, however, neither specific nor consistent. The diagnosis always rests on a set of converging findings. Corticosteroid therapy is the m ainstay of management. Full recovery is sometimes difficult to achieve .
