Mg. Basallote et al., SYNTHESIS AND KINETIC-STUDY OF PALLADIUM AND PLATINUM COMPLEXES WITH AMINOPOLYCARBOXYLATE LIGANDS, Polyhedron, 13(12), 1994, pp. 1853-1858
A general synthetic procedure for the preparation of Pd(II) and Pt(II)
complexes with aminopolycarboxylate ligands is reported. These compou
nds are easily prepared from acetic acid solutions of MCl2 and H-4L (M
= Pd or Pt; L = EDTA, PDTA or CDTA). Two different kinds of compounds
can be isolated, [M (H4L) Cl2] and (H-6L) [MCl4]. In the case of plat
inum compounds, both structures can be easily distinguished using elec
tronic spectroscopy. Complexes [M (H-2L)] have also been isolated from
aqueous solutions of the chloro compounds. Salts (H-6L) [MCl4] in aqu
eous solution are slowly converted into the corresponding complexes wi
th coordinated L. The kinetics of this process have been studied in th
e case of the platinum compounds.
