The cluster [Re2Ru2(mu4-S)(mu-C5H4N)(mu-pyS)(CO)13] (pyS = pyridine-2-
thionato) reacts with [Ru3(CO)12] at 150-degrees-C to give the product
[Re2RU2(mu-H)(mu4-S)(mu-C5H4N)(CO)14], which contains the same arrang
ement of metal atoms around the tetrahedral sulphur ligand as the pare
nt. The loss of the pyS ligand is compensated for by the addition of a
hydride and a carbonyl ligand and by the formation of an Re-Re bond.
