A Sc-42m isomeric beam was produced for the first time at GANIL. The C
-12(Ca-40, Sc-42m)B-10 transfer reaction at 30 MeV/A yielded an isomer
ic purity of 98 +/-5%. Using the LISE3 on line separation, 30% of the
residual Ca-40 nuclei were observed. A Sc-42m secondary beam intensity
of 114 pps was obtained with a 3 10(10) pps Ca-40 incident beam bomba
rding the 5 mg/cm2 C-12 target.
