Yamanaka, INFECTION BY ENTOMOGENOUS FUNGUS, BEAUVER IA-BRONGNIARTII (SACC) PETCH GSES, OF ADULTS OF YELLOW-SPOTTED LONGICORN BEETLE, PSACOTHEA-HILARIS PASCOE BY DISPERSING CONIDIA FROM NONWOVEN FABRIC SHEET CONTAINING FUNGUS, Nippon Oyo Dobutsu Konchu Gakkai-Shi, 41(1), 1997, pp. 45-49
Infection by the entomogenous fungus, Beauveria brongniartii, of adult
s of the Yellow Spotted Longicorn Beetle, Psacothea hilaris was examin
ed by dispersing conidia using non-woven fabric sheet containing the f
ungus. The mortality of adult beetles was 100% when they were reared 5
0 cm from the sheet for 7 days. When the adult beetles were allowed co
ntact with leaves contaminated by dispersed conidia, the mortality was
30%-40%. Sheets containing the fungus covered with an opaque plate we
re hung on fig trees to control P. hilaris adults. The mortality of ad
ult beetles collected 10 days after attaching the sheet was 90%, but d
ecreased to 57% after 31 days. More than 10(7) conidia/cm(2) exhibitin
g infectivity to P. hilaris adults were detected for 55 days after she
et attachment.
