Dimethysilicon(IV) maleanilates and phthalanilates have been synthesis
ed by the reaction of dichlorodimethylsilane with the sodium salt of m
aleanilic and phthalanilic acids (prepared in situ by the reaction of
sodium isopropoxide with maleanilic and phthalanilic acids) in 1:2 mol
ar ratios, respectively. These newly synthesised derivatives have been
characterised by elemental analyses, melting points and spectral (IR
and H-1 NMR) studies.
