The mechanism of aging of CuCl and Cu2O deposits as well as of looseni
ng of CuCl2 . 3Cu(OH)2 with time is established. The ratio of the rate
s of these processes is determined. It is shown that the most pronounc
ed compaction is characteristic of the CuCl layer. However, this layer
becomes rather friable and dissolves progressively with current oscil
lations.
