The influence of the Pt polycrystalline electrode electrochemical pret
reatment on the initial stages of copper electrocrystallization from s
ulfate electrolytes was by the methods of potentiostatic current trans
ients, cyclic voltammetry, and electron microscopy. It is established
that current transients display a number of maxima in the course of co
pper deposition on an energy-nonuniform surface. Methodological proble
ms are discussed. The experimental data processing is performed in acc
ordance with the diffusion model of nuclei growth. It was shown that t
his model can be used only for rough estimates of the relative changes
in the parameters of copper nucleation.
