PIPE AND GULLY SYSTEMS-DEVELOPMENT IN THE ALMANZORA BASIN (SOUTHEAST SPAIN)

Erosive processes by piping have an important effect on the developmen t of the gully systems and badlands in the Almanzora river basin. In t he areas examined, important litho-structural control is observed on t he creation and evolution of piping and gullying processes. These main ly develop in two different topographic contexts: a) on steep slopes a nd b) on subhorizontal surfaces of abandoned agricultural land. The de velopment of the networks of pipes and gullies began recently in the a rea and has mainly taken place in the last few centuries.
