Abstract
4-Iodo-3-methyl-2-cyclohexenone (9) and 3-alkyl 3-cyclohexene-1,2-diol derivatives 16 were examined as ring-III equivalents for the tandem r adical cyclization approach to the synthesis of morphine (1a).
