Si. Dokashenko et Vp. Stepanov, THE STRUCTURE OF THE ELECTRIC DOUBLE-LAYER ON LIQUID-METAL ELECTRODESIN INDIVIDUAL ALKALI-METAL HALIDE MELTS, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 29(11), 1993, pp. 1129-1133
The manner in which the capacitance of the electric double layer on li
quid bismuth in molten alkali-metal halides varies with the potential,
temperature, and ionic composition of the electrolyte was investigate
d. It was found that capacitance plotted against potential yields para
bolic curves with a minimum. The position of the curves and the slope
of their branches depend on the temperature, cationic and anionic comp
osition of the salt phase. The capacitance at the minima of the curves
decreases with an increase in cation size and in the ionic potential
of the anions in the melt. The minimal capacitance varies nonmonotonic
ally with temperature. The observed facts are explained assuming an au
tocomplex structure for the salt side of the electric double layer.
