Abstract
It has been discovered that under specific initial and boundary condit ions the current parameters of the anodic microarc process have a stro ng bearing on the uniformity of coating thickness. From this observati on it has been assumed that an important role is played by the sudden change between the different forms (''scattered'' and ''collective'') in which multiple discharges bum. This and other features (brought out in this work) and their interpretation within a comprehensive approac h can provide a basis for the further development of the underlying pr inciples of the method considered in this study.
