The measurements of the equatorial Kerr effect showed that cathodic tr
eatment of nickel electrodeposits in KOH results in die leveling of th
e electrodeposit relief. Cathodic treatment of the nickel deposits in
H2SO4 at high current densities gives rise to the grain orientation of
the deposits. The formation of metallic nickel and iron was detected
at the surfaces of LaNi5 and TiFe0.85Zr0.12Mo0.03 alloys after the cyc
les of their potentiostatic oxidation-reduction in KOH.
