Va. Safonov et Ma. Choba, DOUBLE-LAYER STRUCTURE ON RENEWED ELECTRODES OF SN-PB ALLOYS IN THE PRESENCE OF ORGANIC-SUBSTANCES, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 29(9), 1993, pp. 978-983
Impedance measurements of the dependences of the double-layer capacita
nce on the potential (C, E-curves) were carried out on the electrodes
of a Sn-Pb alloy (Pb content was ca. 1 wt %), which were renewed by cu
tting in Na2SO4 solutions with cyclohexanol and camphor additives. The
experimentally observed time changes in the C, E-curves from the mome
nt of the electrode renewal indicate that suface-layer enrichment by l
ead atoms occurs. Analyzing the experimental data testifies that the r
ate of this process is abnormally high and depends on the structure of
the electrode/solution interface. The possibility of using a model ex
plaining the movement of Pb atoms over the surface through the surface
-diffusion mechanism was discussed and substantiated.
