Abstract
The tumors can progress rapidly from superficial lesions of the epider mis, which are nearly all curable by excision, to invasive cancers unr esponsive to current therapy. New strategies for regional and systemic spread include multiagent chemotherapy combined with biologic respons e modifiers, such as alpha-interferon or interleukin-2. On the early e vidence, some of these approaches are promising.
