Abstract
The genetic and biological nature of a deficiency in axonal regenerati on in C57BL/6J mice was investigated. From analysis of recombinant inb red strains, the genetic basis for the deficient regeneration behaviou rs of C57BL/6J and A/J mice is deduced to involve multiple loci. The d efect in axonal regeneration in C57BL/6J mice appears to be a delay ra ther than permanant impairment and appears to involve sensory more tha n motor axons.
