EXCESS VOLUMES, SPEEDS OF SOUND, AND VISCOSITIES FOR MIXTURES OF 1,2-ETHANEDIOL AND ALKOXY ALCOHOLS WITH WATER AT 308.15-K

Excess volume, speed of sound, and viscosity data of binary liquid mix tures of water + 1,2-ethanediol, + 2-methoxyethanol, + 2-ethoxyethanol , and + 2-butoxyethanol have been measured at 308.15 K. The results ar e used to derive densities and isentropic compressibilities. The exces s volumes and deviations in the compressibility are negative while dev iations in the viscosity are positive for all four systems. The result s are discussed in terms of molecular interactions between like and un like components.
