Tm. Brishtein et Yv. Lyatskaya, POLYMER BRUSH IN A MIXED-SOLVENT, Colloids and surfaces. A, Physicochemical and engineering aspects, 86, 1994, pp. 77-83
The properties of a polymer brush in a binary solvent are considered o
n the basis of mean-field theory. The height of the brush is found to
be roughly guided by a single parameter chi, which is a combination of
the interaction parameters chi(A), chi(B) and chi(AB) and the solvent
composition in the bulk. The peculiarities of the good solvent-precip
itant mixture are considered, as well as the effect of preferential so
lvation.
