This investigation is concerned with the influence of time, temperatur
e and particle radius on the increase of interparticle contacts during
vacuum sintering of loosely packed spherical powders of high-speed st
eels obtained by atomization with nitrogen. Values of the sintering ac
tivation energy are estimated and discussed. X-ray microprobe investig
ations allowed one to compile and discuss data of the distribution of
metallic and non-metallic components within the sintered samples.
