A. Kocisova et al., THE RESISTANCE OF THE HOUSE-FLY (MUSCA-DO MESTICA) TO ORGANOPHOSPHATES IN THE KOSICE DISTRICT, SLOVAK-REPUBLIC, Zivocisna vyroba, 39(4), 1994, pp. 357-364
We tested resistance to the organophosphates in the wild population of
house fly from 9 (1991) and 15 (1992) farms of of the Kosice region.
A considerable high percentage (13 - 100 %) of resistant females prese
nt in the populations, was found in 1991, when fenithrothion and pirim
iphos-methyl was used for a long time. When these compounds were no mo
re used for the control of fly, the percentage of resistant females in
the population decreased to 10 - 23 % in 1992. We would like to indic
ate on demand for organization the planary monitoring of resistance de
velopment of house fly to insecticides in animal houses. In view of an
imal production economy and the ecological consequences of ineffective
control due to resistance of house fly to insecticides, increased att
ention of the veterinary service as well as all other bodies concerned
in animal production is required.
