The description of the electronic structure of magnetic transition met
a systems by using the spin polarized relativistic linear-muffin-tin-o
rbital (SPRLMTO) method of band structure calculation leads to a very
efficient and reliable way to calculate their magnetic X-ray dichroism
(MXD) spectra. This is demonstrated by comparing results for the L2,3
-spectra of pure Fe with spectra obtained using the numerically more a
ccurate but computationally more demanding spin polarized relativistic
Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker (SPRKKR) method.
