SYNTHESIS OF BIMETALLIC COMPLEXES BASED O N A NEW PORPHYRIN-CYCLAM DINUCLEATING LIGAND AND THEIR REACTIVITY TOWARDS DIOXYGEN

A new Porphyrin-Cyclam dinucleating ligand has been prepared. We repor t here its synthesis and several homo- and heterobimetallic derivative s. Some results unambiguously show that the two macrocycles can adopt a face to face geometry but no definitive conclusion can be made conce rning the conformation of the bimetallic complexes. We also discuss th e reactivity of the cobalt-containing complexes towards dioxygen, and we report the first example of mu-peroxo intermolecular complexes in o rganic solvents.
