Cem. Benraad et al., AUTOIMMUNE HEMOLYTIC-ANEMIA DURING PREGNANCY, European journal of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive biology, 55(3), 1994, pp. 209-211
We describe a 31-year-old woman, who presented during her first pregna
ncy, with severe haemolytic anaemia due to autoimmune antibodies again
st erythrocytes. IgG warm-antibodies, as well as IgM antibodies were f
ound in her serum. This idiopathic form of auto-immune haemolysis was
successfully treated with glucocorticoids. During her second pregnancy
auto-immune haemolysis again developed and was treated similarly. Two
healthy children were born. The uneventful outcome we saw with our pa
tient is in keeping with other reports in the literature.
