We. Gooden et al., THE SEPARATION OF BIOLOGICALLY-ACTIVE DIASTEREOMERS OF ZWITTERIONIC BETA-LACTAMS BY ANION-EXCHANGE CHROMATOGRAPHY, Analytical letters, 27(11), 1994, pp. 2153-2169
Separation of diastereomeric zwitterionic beta-lactams was effected on
an anion-exchange column. An aqueous pH gradient from neutrality to p
H 1 was generated using hydrochloric acid with the resin in the chlori
de form. Isocratic separations were done with 0.1 N acetic acid with t
he resin in the acetate form. The separated products were characterize
d by infrared spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, beta-lactamase inhibito
ry activity and antibiotic activity.
