Regress of myocardial ischemia during atrial stimulation was observed
in 10 of 106 patients (9,3%) with positive atrial pacing stress test.
Seven of these patients had minimal coronary artery lesions (group A)
and 3 had critical stenoses of left anterior descending artery (group
B). Proposed mechanisms of ischemia regression were alleviation of str
ess induced transient coronary spasm in group A and opening of dormant
at rest collaterals in group E. For improvement of sensitivity of atr
ial pacing a additional test with ''sudden stress'' is suggested.
