Abstract
A proximal segment of B. subtilis secY gene was placed under the contr ol of the inducible spae promoter/Lac repressor system. This fusion wa s integrated into the chromosomal spe operon of B. subtilis via CAMPBE LL-like reciprocal recombination. The growth of the resulting strain w as strongly IPTG dependent. With staphylokinase and alpha-amylase as r eporter proteins it was found, that the protein secretion capacity of this strain was correlated to the conditions of repression or inductio n of the chromosomal spae promoter.
