Pj. Gisbert et al., INTRAHEPATIC HEMATOMA SECONDARY TO PELIOS IS HEPATITIS IN A PATIENT TREATED WITH ORAL-CONTRACEPTIVES, Revista espanola de enfermedades digestivas, 85(6), 1994, pp. 475-477
The case of a patient is reported, who developed peliosis hepatis duri
ng contraceptive steroid therapy. This was clinically manifested as a
spontaneous hepatic hematoma. No underlying liver tumor could be detec
ted by both invasive and non-invasive investigations. Oral contracepti
ves should be listed among the potential albeit exceptional causes of
liver hematoma, and this clinical presentation of peliosis hepatis add
ed to the possible manifestations of that obscure condition.
