A 10 year old female dog is presented with a past history of beeing sp
ayed at the age of 7 months using the ATOPA method. The dog presented
with a gastric tumor originating from the transplanted tissue leading
to a ruptured stomach followed by peritonitis. The intensive care of t
his case including the following three main components are demonstrate
d. First, the chance of survival can be increased by removing the sept
ic focus combined with an optimal drainage system. Second, the monitor
ing of simple parameters allows early recognition of success or need o
f further therapy and third, medical therapy includes not only antibio
tics but also a well selected fluid therapy, pain medication and early
enteral nutrition.
