Abstract
The differential quadrature method (DQM) is applied to computation of the eigenvalues of flexural-torsional buckling of arches including a w arping contribution. Critical loads are calculated for a single-span w ide-flange arch subjected to equal and opposite inplane bending moment s or uniformly distributed radial loads with various end conditions an d opening angles. Results are compared with existing exact and numeric al solutions by other methods where available, The differential quadra ture method gives good accuracy even when only a limited number of gri d points is used. New results are given for two sets of boundary condi tions not previously considered for this problem: clamped-clamped and clamped-simply supported ends. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd .
