Abstract
Aqua regia-microwave oven digestion and ICP-MS analysis were evaluated as a procedure for the rapid determination of gold and the platinum-g roup metals in three reference ores. Results indicate that the recover ies of the metals are element- and matrix-dependent. Average recoverie s ranged from 30%. for ruthenium to 90% for rhodium. Although quantita tive recoveries are not achieved, the procedure is a good rapid-turnar ound survey method that can handle high sample throughput.
