W. Fujita et al., FORMATION OF THIOPHENE OLIGOMERS AND POLYTHIOPHENE ON A ROUGHENED GOLD ELECTRODE STUDIED BY SURFACE-ENHANCED RAMAN-SCATTERING, Chemistry Letters, (3), 1994, pp. 511-514
Thiophene adsorbed on a roughened gold electrode was studied in an aqu
eous solution at various potentials from 0 to 1.0 V vs. SCE by use of
surface enhanced Raman scattering. It was found that thiophene oligome
rs and polythiophene were produced on the electrode surface at potenti
al ranges of 0-0.6 V and 0.8-1.0 V, respectively. This potential range
is significantly low compared to the potential used in the convention
al electropolymerization of thiophene monomer (1.6 V vs. Ag/AgCl) in a
cetonitrile medium).
