A small number of zinc(II) tetraphenylporphyrin (ZnTPP) moieties were
covalently incorporated into a liquid crystalline (LC) polymethacrylat
e bearing cholesterol side chains. The ZnTPP moieties exhibited enormo
usly long triplet lifetime in the LC polpmethacrylate in n-hexane.
