The variation of the direct and indirect bandgap of compound GaxAl1-xA
s systems with hydrostatic pressure and molar composition x has been c
alculated at the high symmetry points GAMMA, X and L using the empiric
al pseudopotential method coupled with the virtual-crystal approximati
on. The bowing parameters have been studied in relation to molar compo
sition and pressure.
