SYNTHESIS AND SPECTROSCOPIC CHARACTERIZAT ION OF POLY[(ETHYLENE OXIDE)-B-(ETHYLENEIMINE)]

Triblock functional copolymer, containing ethylene oxide and ethylenei mine blocks, were synthesized by tosylation of the terminal hydroxyl g roups of poly(ethyleneglycol). The tosylated prepolymer was used as in itiator for the cationic polymerization of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline produc ing a triblock copolymer. Finally, by basic hydrolysis the N-acetyl gr oups were transformed into secondary amino groups that are chemically reactives. The copolymer structures were analyzed by FT-IR, H-1-NMR an d C-13-NMR spectroscopy.
