VOLTAMETRIC CHARACTERIZATION OF SOME COPP ER(II) AND IRON(III) COMPLEXES WITH ASYMMETRIC LIGAND DERIVATED FROM 2-AMINE-2-DEOXYGLYCOPIRANOSIDES AND O-HYDROXYNAFTALDEHYDE

In this work the spectroscopic and voltametric characterization of som
e copper(II) and iron(III) complexes derived from 2-amine-2-deoxy-glyc
opyranosides and o-hydroxynaftaldehyde were carried out. Each IR spect
rum of the ligands show a strong band in the range 1625-1638 cm-1 whic
h is assigned to the azomethine group in the free ligand, shifted by 1
0 to 20 cm-1 towards lower frequency in the complexes. This suggests t
he coordination of the azomethine nitrogen atom to the metal ion. The
reduction process of the copper complexes, leads to the metallic coppe
r and the iron complexes present a reversible reduction associated at
two anodic peaks.
