It is assumed that the transfer characteristic of a nonlinear circuit
in its severe form is represented by a power series with six terms (fi
fth-order nonlinearity) and that the circuit is injected by a composit
e signal (arbitrary shape of excitation). An analysis based on the con
trolled aliasing technique is carried out to determine the amplitude o
f each output harmonic. Results show that this technique is an accurat
e CAD tool for analysis of any order of nonlinearity for any form of i
nput, with no limitations. CPU-time investigations show that the choic
e of the sampling window for both speed of solution and minimisation o
f algebraic effort is the critical parameter. A typical CPU time for a
nalysis of this severe nonlinearity is 4 min.
