Ma. Pimenta et P. Licinio, FRUSTRATION ON THE TRIANGULAR LATTICE AND INCOMMENSURABILITY, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 50(2), 1994, pp. 722-726
The study of a system of continuous spins on a frustrated triangular l
attice evolving as a cellular automaton is presented. Initially disord
ered lattices are seen to organize into modulated patterns. It is show
n that frustration on the triangular lattice is not a sufficient condi
tion for the appearance of an incommensurate modulation; anisotropy, w
hich breaks the hexagonal symmetry, must also be introduced. There is
a critical value beta(c) for the anisotropy above which the incommensu
rability is found.
